The three most common balustrades we use are timber, stainless wire and aluminium. Timber balustrades are either pine or hardwood and suit the more traditional cottage or Queenslander homes. Stainless wire or aluminium is generally used in modern homes, with aluminium often chosen to blend in with pool fencing.
What Is a Balustrade?
A balustrade is a row of small columns topped by a rail. Aside from aesthetic purposes, the primary function of a balustrade is to reduce the risk of a person falling off a stairway. With a rich history dating as far back as the 13th century, balustrades continue to be used today in a vast variety of shapes and materials for both decorative and practical purposes.
